Independence Inspiration

Image
Slay of the Day- Independence Inspiration Trinidad & Tobago gained our independence on 31st August 1962 from under the ruling of Great Britain. This is usually celebrated by an Independence Day Parade, followed by fireworks at night. I've had the experience of being on both sides of the coin. I've served my country as a military person on many of these parades, feeling a sense of pride as people cheered you on, and now that I am on the sidelines I enjoy cheering others on.   Some of the ways persons show their patriotism is through face painting of our national flag, or a symbolic makeup look, which of course I love doing. This patriotic look even transcends to our Carnival, displayed as a midnight robber or on the faces of masqueraders. As our Independence Day nears yet again I am excited to see the independence inspired looks and to create one of my own, which I will share in a follow up post. Please feel free to comment on and shar...

Weird Makeup Trends

Image
Weird Makeup Trends For every great makeup trend created there's a weird, crazy one to match, not all are a hit. Here are some weird makeup trends that had me wondering if the creators were on some sort of substance. The Braided Brow As I mentioned in my post on brows I love seeing perfect brows, so imagine my astonishment at seeing these brow trends. As much as it looks perfectly sculpted and you have to be really talented to get it to look like a braid, it is beyond my comprehension why someone would want to rock braided brows. The Feathered Brow If the braided brow wasn't bad they came up with the feathered brow. Like why, are you going to fly away? The Squiggly Brow Then they thought of the squiggly or wavy eyebrow.  The Squiggly Lips To match the squiggly brows the squiggly lips were created that had me screaming whyyyyyyy??? Nose Hairs Who would purposely want hair sticking out of their nose, especially and female??? ...

Choosing the Right Concealer

Image
Slay of the Day- Choosing the Right Concealer Using the right concealer can give you a beautifully flawless look when applying your makeup. If the correct one is chosen it can cover blemishes, conceal dark circles or spots, or give the look of evenly toned skin. The wrong one can been seen through your foundation and attract attention to your problem areas, show up your blemishes, or show up as a white cast around your eyes. You need to find one that's best for your skin type. For dry skin it is not wise to use a liquid concealer that leaves you with a matte finish, instead try a stick concealer which is usually creamy and pigmented, which can be dotted on the area to be covered or swiped on. After which you blend it with your beauty blender or concealer brush. Coverage ranges from medium to full. For oily skin try a liquid concealer that leaves a matte finish. This type of concealer is great as you can build up on the desired coverage you want from light to full...

Here are some tips from some experts that can hopefully assist in the decision. If you have oily or combination skin, that causes your makeup to slide off before the day is finished and you want to cover up acne blemishes or large pores, you want to choose a foundation that is liquid and oil free, with a silicone base. This will leave you with a matte finish. If you suffer with dry skin that looks flaky after foundation is applied and you want to cover up blemishes or fine wrinkle lines, try using a foundation that is moisture rich with hydration boost and an anti-aging formula. If your sensitive skin that is easily irritated and shows areas of redness and you want to have an even tone, try using a foundation that is mine...
