of the Day- Smokey-eye Tutorial
By popular demand I’m doing this
post to give some tips on getting those smoked-out, sultry eyes. So, get your
primer, shadows and brushes ready and join me on this tutorial.
Optimus
PRIME!
·
Whenever applying eyeshadow, it is always wise to
apply a primer base before application as this prevents the smearing or causing
creasing in the fine lines of your lids after just one hour of wear.
·
Using a small brush or your ring finger, gently
pat the primer over your lids and under your eyes to ensure that the shadow
stays in place.
Conceal & Bake!
·
Next you want to ensure you neutralize any dark
shadows around your eyes, as this will make you look more like got a black eye
than a smouldering look.
·
Using a crème concealer, again apply with your
ring finger or small brush and blend in.
·
Then you ‘bake’! Using a fluffy brush apply a
loose translucent or a banana powder under the eyes, to catch any fallouts from
the eyeshadow. The excess will be removed when you’re finished creating the
look.
Smoke!
·
Using a blending brush apply a minimal amount of a
dark coloured eye shadow from your lash line up to the crease of your lid.
·
A great tip in applying eyeshadow is when after
you have dipped the brush in you shadow palette, tap off the excess, as this
help minimize the fallout. Also, lightly tap/pat the shadow unto your lids as
this helps it stay in place.
·
Using your blending brush, in a left to right
motion blend the shadow into your lids, this gives a more smoked-out effect.
·
Using a smaller blending brush do the same under
your eyes, just below the lash line.
·
Another tip is that you don’t HAVE to use black
eyeshadow for a smoky look. Any dark shade can be used depending on the look
you want to achieve.
·
Ensure that you blend out any harsh lines at your
crease and under your eyes, and for an added effect, apply black eyeliner to
your lower lash line.
Highlight!
- To add some radiance to your eyes, blend in a shimmery highlight colour in the ‘V’ of your eyes and over your brow bone.
- Using the same left to right motion, ensure that it blends in to your dark shade at your crease so that it doesn’t show a separation between the two shades.
Complete!
Add a wing and a lash strip and you're ready for a night out!
