Daytime Makeup
Slay of the Day- Daytime Makeup
Less is
more!.... This is the ultimate goal when applying daytime makeup. It’s all
about clean fresh looks that accentuates your natural features, while
concealing any blemishes or age spots. I try to achieve this look every
day, but it can be difficult sometimes to achieve when you want to be the ‘life
of the party’ with Sasha Velvets, play up your eyes with a Morphe or Juvia’s
Place pallete, add a little glow to your cheeks with Anastasia Beverly Hills, or
add some flare and drama with some Huda mink falsies.
The Basics
To achieve a natural ‘clean’ look let’s start off with the basics. Face prepping is the first and important step as it clears the skin of any dead skin cells, and cleans your pores (you can check out my blog on face prepping for further guidance). After you’ve cleansed, toned and moisturized your face, apply a face primer as a base to your foundation. This allows the foundation to go on smoothly and give you even coverage, and also helps keep the makeup in place for longer wear.
Foundation

Set It!
After
you have applied your foundation and concealer, you need to ‘set’ it with your
face powder. Loose powders are recommended and you can always opt for a translucent
powder for this natural look. The key to setting the face with powder is to pat
it on. Set the concealed areas first going a little heavier with the powder,
then lighter to the rest of the face. Go back to the concealed area and brush
off the excess powder.

Next
you apply your foundation. Again, you are trying to achieve a natural look so the
less is more rule applies. If you have lots of blemishes or age spots to cover,
a crème foundation is recommended. If you don’t have much flaws to cover you
can opt for a liquid foundation for lighter coverage. Apply to face and past
the jawline with a foundation brush and blend in with a beauty blender for a smoother
flawless effect. Remember to use either a moisturiser, primer or foundation
that has SPF, to shield you from those harmful rays. If you have dark eye
circles like me, apply an orange coloured concealer under your eyes to cover
the blue shades of the dark circle. Apply with your ring finger in this delicate
area to avoid pulling your skin. Use a concealer that’s a few shades light than
your skin tone, in the middle section, ‘V’ and below the brow bone for a
natural highlight and bright looking eyes.

Completing
the look
For natural looking brows fill them in with a brown eyeshadow, the darker or lighter shade would depend on your skin tone. Use neutral shades for eyeshadow and pink or tea rose for blushes for lighter or darker skin tone respectively. Use nude, brown, beige or pink liners and gloss or lipstick on your lips to complete your natural look. Set the face with a fix it spray for longer wear.

DeleteIts so refreshing to read that less is more. I love makeup and i prefer that i dont look like i have it on. I prefer to look natural
ReplyDeleteI honestly dont think i distinguish properly with day and night. So is it that you need to have two sets of foundation depending on the coverage you want?
ReplyDeleteHi KC.....not necessarily....it depends on what you are trying to cover......for example if it's just dark circles around your eyes you can use a concealer under your foundation for added coverage, this can also work for spot blemishes.......if you have a liquid foundation and you simply want more coverage it would require you to go a little heavier on your application......this would of course mean using more product, so if you prefer more coverage a creme based foundation may be better.....hope this helps...
