The Perfect Brow 2

Image
Slay of the Day- The Perfect Brow 2 I love doing my brows, I think it’s my second favorite section of my face to do but sometimes it can feel like the least. I love when they behave, and both look symmetrical with perfect arches, and hate when I have to use extra concealer to correct mistakes or fill back in an area I mistakenly conceal. For this post I will go through the process using the pencil, which gives you a sleek look and the powder which gives a more natural look. Brow Pencil I start off by brushing all the hairs in place. You can even use a clear brow gel if u have stubborn hairs. I then lining the top and bottom of the brow with the pencil Next, I fill in my brows with the pencil, leaving out the inner area Then using a brow brush or spoolie, brush over brows Using the excess left on the spoolie fill in the area that was left out Then using a concealer that’s lighter than your foundation, line directly under the brow as neatly as you can. This can be a re...

The Perfect Brow

Slay of the Day- The Perfect Brow As the saying goes ‘eyes are the windows to the soul’, and every makeup artist loves applying eyeshadow to their clients, using a range of colours and blending it to perfection. But also important to those perfect eyes are the perfect brows! Nothing completes the look more than beautifully done eyebrows. This is one of my pet peeves in makeup application when doing it myself or seeing crazy brows on other people. I have to literally fight off the urge sometimes to grab my brow kit and reshape the person’s brow! Today I will share some tips on getting the perfect brow. One of the requests I make to any client I’m going to do work on is to get their eyebrows waxed or groomed. This allows for easy shaping and filling in where necessary and using less product to conceal new hair growth. For persons with full eyebrows the work is minimal and its usually just to highlight with pencil or brow gel and conceal any errors to perfection, but if you ha...

Date Night Makeup

Slay of the Day- Date Night makeup If you are getting ready for a night on the town this is where you can pull off a dramatic look. Moving away from the neutral tones of day time makeup up, night wear is all about shimmery or smokey eyes to sultry lips, the overall smoldering look. Lash extensions or strips can be used for added flare as well as bronzed contouring. The Basics Of course we need to start with the basics of face prepping. Always cleanse before makeup application to clear the face of dead skin cells, dirt and build up, and follow with toner, moisturizer and face primer. For those persons with dry skin try using a toner without alcohol like Clarins Extra Comfort Toning lotion or Mario Badescu’s Aloe Vera Toner to avoid over drying, tightness or redness of skin. And as you know this step gives you flawless application of your foundation. Foundation to Finish A fter you’ve prepped your other steps are to apply your foundation, concealer and set with po...

Slay of the Day- Daytime Makeup Image Source: Pinteres t Less is more!.... This is the ultimate goal when applying daytime makeup. It’s all about clean fresh looks that accentuates your natural features, while concealing any blemishes or age spots.     I  try to achieve this look every day, but it can be difficult sometimes to achieve when you want to be the ‘life of the party’ with Sasha Velvets, play up your eyes with a Morphe or Juvia’s Place pallete, add a little glow to your cheeks with Anastasia Beverly Hills, or add some flare and drama with some Huda min k falsies. The Basics To achieve a natural ‘clean’ look let’s start off with the basics. Face prepping is the first and important step as it clears the skin of any dead skin cells, and cleans your pores (you can check out my blog on face prepping for further guidance). After you’ve cleansed, toned and moisturized your face, apply a face primer as a base to your foundation. This allows the foundation to go...

Face Prepping

Image
Slay of the Day- Face Prepping Image Source: OTC magazine Ok so if I'm going to do a blog about makeup products and makeup application, it would be remiss of me if I didn’t touch on prepping the face, as this is an important step. Before applying any kind of makeup for any occasion you want to ensure that you prepare the base to which you apply your makeup which is your skin. Many makeup artists have recommended this regime for prepping your face before applying makeup. ·         The first step in prepping your face is to ensure that it is clean. Washing your face and neck with a facial cleanser and warm water opens your pores and removes any dirt, build up and dead skin cells. You should splash cold water on your face after as this closes your pores, which is important to avoid build up.
