A Little About Me...
I have always been a
fan of makeup, I consider it one of my passions. My first memories of it date
back to a little girl growing up watching my mom apply her makeup. Back then
the trend was shaving off your eyebrows and then drawing it back with an
eyebrow pencil… the things we women do to ourselves for the beauty stamp of
approval knows no bounds…. I remember being totally fascinated by watching her
'draw' her eyebrows back in place, thankfully she has an artistic background so
they were always perfect. I looked on as she applied face powder (Sasha
Cosmetics was her brand of choice), eyeliner, mascara and lipstick, the effects
of which did not transform her, but enhanced her beautiful features. And
although I love the aspect of makeup that can totally transform a person's
features, I am more taken aback by the enhanced end product.
As time progressed,
and when I was considered old enough, I started dabbling with it. In high
school the trend was 'brown powder', eyeliner and lip gloss. Not the awesome
glosses of present that can give you luscious looking lips, but those in the
little bottles with the balls that roll on your lips for application, which
end up making u look like you just ate a greasy pie. And I never dared attempt
the eyebrow shaving as the trend was to slick it down with hair gel (Jet Set),
comb it upwards with a fine tooth comb, then take the comb and mark off the top
to give the effect of marking with a razor blade. Thank God trends change and
update frequently!
When I was able to
'pay my way' I did a couple of basic and advanced makeup courses to enhance my
skills, with the aim of being an entrepreneur by becoming a makeup artist. My
life's journey took me along different career paths, but my love for makeup artistry
never diminished. Perhaps now that I have gained some stability, my passion and
ultimate goal can be realised. As I continue on my makeup journey I encourage you to learn with me about makeup tips, products, local talents and all that the alluring world of beauty has to offer. Please feel free to comment and share my posts....Thanks for reading!
